Maciek Krzakowski
Maciej Krzakowski completed his medical degree at the Medical University in Warsaw. He is a specialist in radiotherapy as well as internal medicine and medical oncology. He is Head of the Lung & Thoracic Tumours Department at the Maria Sklodowska-Curie Memorial Cancer Centre & Institute of Oncology in Warsaw, Poland. Main areas of interest are combined therapy for lung and breast cancer, development of new systemic treatment modalities in the management of lung and breast cancer, hormonal therapy for breast cancer, and various aspects of supportive care. Maciej Krzakowski published over 400 papers in local and international medical journals. He acted as an editor of 23 monographs and medical text-books. He is a member of the scientific boards of numerous medical journals. Maciej Krzakowski is a member of the Polish Society of Oncology, Polish Society of Clinical Oncology (past president), American Society of Clinical Oncology, European Society of Medical Oncology, and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer. Maciej Krzakowski has held the position of Chief Country Medical Oncologist since 1998.
Piotr Wisniewski
I was born in Skepe, Poland in 1970. I received my medical degree from the Military Medical Academy in Lodz. I was then trained in the Military Institute of Medicine In Warsaw where I worked as an attending physician and pathologist from 1996 to 2007. From 2007 to 2011 was a surgical pathologist at the Central Laboratory Hospiten Group in Tenerife, Spain.
In 2011 I moved to Poland and started working in the Maria Sklodowska-Curie Institute – Oncology Center in Warsaw. Since 2014 I am the Deputy Head of the Department of Pathology. I received my PhD degree in 2017. My area of expertise is the surgical pathology of lung cancer, melanoma and soft-tissue tumors. I am principally interested in pathological examination of predictive factors to targeted therapy in lung cancer.
